Michgan gets approximately $75,000.00.  90% must be used for food purchases.  The rest of this money is used as 50 cent on the dollar match money counties that raise local funds.  The program will run from July 1, 2009 through October 31, 2009 in Muskegon and Oceana Counties.  Muskegon - Oceana Community Action Partnership, Inc. partners with the Muskegon County Health Department and the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging to make this program available in Muskegon and Oceana Counties.  In 2007 MOCAP was able to assist 50 senior with voucher.  During the 2008 program year MOCAP was able to distribute more than 500 vouchers. During the 2009 program year MOCAP staff hopes to assist more that 750 seniors throughout Muskegon and Oceana Counties.  Our growth is due in part the the wonderful redemption rates of the voucher and the overwhelmingly positive response we have received from seniors in both counties.

To qualify, a senior must:

Be at least 60 years of age or older

Be at least 185% of poverty or less

Live in the county the coupons are distributed in

Seniors in Muskegon and Oceana Counties are eligible to receive up to $40 in vouchers during the 2009 program year.  Vouchers will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.
